Here we have another example of the very well proven 5" GWR Pannier tank built to LBSC's 'Pansy' design. This little fella is cosmetically a little on the scruffy side, and has certainly benefited from several different pots of 'green' in it's life. Although, not about to win any 'best in show' awards, it is certainly a loco that you could enjoy driving without worrying to much about scratching it!
The engine is fitted with an injector, as well as an axle pump, and of course the hand pump hidden within the pannier tank. Lubrication is displacement, with a reservoir under the cab footplate, and a sight feed in the cab so you can see exactly how much oil the cylinders are getting. The bottom end is in reasonable condition, and we expect it to run well when we throw a fire in it.
A good, cheep route into owning a certificated and running 5" GWR Pannier tank, and if you're prepared to throw a well aimed tin of paint at her on your day off, then you could no doubt add a little to the value of this one as well.
