Here we have a rather rare and beautiful little thing. A Great North of Scotland Railway 4-4-0 'Cowan Goods' loco from 1866. Built by Neilson's in Glasgow to William Cowan's design this is in our view a very pretty locomotive from the start of the era where the Victorian locomotive designers found their sweet spot!
The model is brand new and currently un-fired, but of course we would be happy to test and commission the model for you if you'd like to run her. Generally speaking this is a nicely made thing, if perhaps a little chunky for an early 1860s loco. Machining work is crisp and tidy, if lacking a little in finesse,...... and although she's not going to be winning any model engineering competitions, everything has been nicely made to work, and we expect that it will!
The paint work is again, a bit roughly and thickly applied for a delicate model, but from a few feet away the effect is satisfactory. We are victorian engine enthusiasts here, and we very nearly kept this rare beast! But this is supposed to be a business too, so we are being firm and it has to go!
