Here we have a 7 1/4" gauge LMS Fowler Royal Scot. Built from the Bassett Lowke castings to the Henry Greenly drawings. This is essentially a brand new loco having only been test steamed a couple of times on completion, even though we've known it to be finished to this stage for over 25 years! The loco was finished off by the late John Goulden, and I (Simon) took it to display at Llangollen's Steam Steel and Stars gala nearly 20 years ago now!
It's a 2 cylinder model, in typical Greenly style, so everything is heavily engineered and very robust. The huge silver soldered copper boiler is very solidly built, and can of course come with fresh twice working pressure hydraulic tests as well as a fresh steam test. Mechanically everything is tight as you'd expect for a well engineered model. Fitted with two decent injectors and chunky mechanical lubricators.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
