Here we have a particularly nicely made, and essentially brand new 5" Sweet Pea. Built with the extra pony truck for extra stability, she is the work of a skilled model engineer, and only steamed a few times, she's essentially just run in! The motion work and bearings are all neat and tight, and there's several areas where modifications have been made to the standard design to make things work better. There is a lovely rolled angle on the backhead of the boiler, into which the ashpan and grate smoothly locates that is a particularly satisfying touch!
Fitted with an injector, an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted above the valve gear for easy access. The boiler is a very neatly made copper, silver soldered one, and as with the vast majority of our locos she can be given a full 4 year hydraulic test and fresh steam test so she's ready to hit the track.
