Here we have a very interesting twist upon the Sweet Pea theme. a 5" gauge 'Sweet Pea', but with Marshall valve gear and a proper 'loco type' boiler that looks like it might be to LBSC's Minx design. All in all this makes for a very free steaming and decent running interpretation, and certainly a cut above the standard Sweet Pea design.
It's also a really nicely finished and presented loco. The paintwork is lovely, with beautifully executed hand painted lining, the tender is well made with lots of lovely rivet detailing, and generally everything is mechanically in good condition. The boiler is as you'd expect, fully silver soldered copper, and comes with a fresh 4 year hydraulic test and of course a fresh steam test so all's well and ready to run.
Fitted with a pair of injectors for water, fed from the tender so it stays nice and cold. There is a little more space in the saddle tank, but it's at least half full of lead, so you shouldn't have any grip issues. Lubrication is displacement with a large reservoir under the front running board and twin, regulateable sight feeds on the footplate. If you want a Sweet Pea, but want one with more grip, better steaming qualities and improved valve gear, then this is the loco for you!
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
