Here we have a nicely made 5" gauge 'Simplex' to the well respected and proven design by Martin Evans. Finished in the style of a GWR engine, with nice levels of rivet detail and finesse, it's a convincing looking model. Clearly someone with an eye for the pre-grouping absorbed GWR locos has put some thought into this one before cutting any metal, and the result is definitely a model that could convince almost any purist that it had been absorbed into GWR stock from one of the smaller south Wales railway companies!
Mechanically she's nicely machined. The bottom end is still very tight with minimal amounts of wear and tear, and the boiler is a superheated silver soldered one. Lubrication is mechanical and on the running board for easy access. Water is fed by an injector, as well as an axle pump with a footplate mounted bypass valve and of course the hand pump in the side tank. As with the vast majority of models that come through us, it comes fully tested and can be given a fresh 4 year hydraulic and fresh annual steam test so she'd ready to play.
