Here we have another good example of the well proven 5" gauge 'Simplex' design by Martin Evans. A well built model that we've had through our workshops a couple of times over the years so we know it well. The twin donkey pump on the side of the smokebox is fully functional and a really useful extra water source, but the loco is also fitted with the usual injector, axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve as well as the hand pump in the side tank. Lubrication is mechanical.
Mechanically the valve gear is still in good shape with no significant wear or slop. The boiler is Silver soldered copper and comes fully tested, certified and ready to run. A really great first engine for someone wishing to get into the hobby, as well as an easy to use reliable performer.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
