Here we have a 5" gauge 'Metre Maid' 0-6-0. Essentially an extended 0-6-0 take on the Sweet Pea design, and not a particularly commonly built model. Quite a well resolved example this one. The cut down cab and chimney give it a stocky and purposeful look, and the tender balances the whole thing nicely. The big saddle tank, extra water in the tender and the extra set of wheels over a Sweet Pea makes for a more powerful and capable machine.
Everything is in good order, with good quality machining and no significant degree of wear and tear in the Hackworth valve gear. Fitted with an injector, as well as an axle pump and footplate mounted bypass valve, and of course a hand pump in the tender. There's also a steam pump on the running boards as an extra and more exciting way of adding extra water too! Lubrication is mechanical, although there is also an extra pair of displacement lubricators fitted directly into each valve chest, which are ideal for winterising the loco.
The boiler is the usual silver soldered copper one, and comes as usual with a full fresh 4 year hydraulic test as well as a fresh annual steam test, so everything it all sorted and ready to run.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
