Here we have another rare, probably unique model. A 5" gauge 1849 Kitson Thompson & Hewitson 2-4-0 loco from the Leeds & Thirsk Railway. Built we think around the early 1960s by MR C Wells-McCulloch an accomplished model engineer with a Crampton, a Netta and a Speedy to his credit as well.
The Copper boiler can of course come as always with a twice working pressure hydraulic test as well as fresh steam tests. The paint work is showing it's age here and there, but it certainly gives the model a lovely patina and general feel of age, but mechanically all is well, and it doesn't appear that the loco has ever really been used in anger.
We are super busy here in the workshop at the moment, so apologies for the lack of written information here at the moment! We have an ever increasing backlog of models that we need to get listed up for sale, and so have prioritised getting them photographed, priced and live for sale. As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
