Here we have another extremely rare model. A 5" LNER B12. We think this loco is probably based upon the 5" Claud Hamilton design under the skin, but modified by the builder to represent the B12. The paintwork is the worst bit having definitely suffered over time and is certainly at the point an estate agent would call 'patina'! That said, it's still very presentable and doesn't detract too much from the obvious quality of the model.
Mechanically everything is nicely made and not overly worn. The boiler is the usual silver soldered copper one, and can come with fresh twice working pressure hydraulic tests as well as a fresh steam test. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted on the running board. There's an injector, an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and a hand pump in the tender.
It's a really nicely detailed model, with lovely attention given to the footplate and backhead, latching tool boxes on the tender and a generally high level of model engineering skill in the whole model. We are sure it'll run as nicely as it looks.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
