Here we have a very well on the way, part built 5" LNER B1, essentially to the well proven and ever popular Marin Evans' Springbok design.
We've had this one in the workshop for a little while, and we were planning to finish it off ourselves, but the queue of projects in front of it has become to long, so we are offering it as it is for someone else to push over those final hurdles. The model has been well engineered, and as you can see the boiler is a professionally made very crisp job. Several of the boiler bushes are dotted ready to be drilled, so at this stage you could choose how accurately you would like to finish the backhead,.... either prototypically or simply to the Martin Evans drawings. Our plan was to push the model a little more toward a prototypically accurate looking B1, so you will notice that there have been a few subtle little tweaks along the way to achieve this end. The locomotive it's self is slightly narrower than the Springbok drawings, and the steam pipe covers have been made to sit more vertically than standard. Drain cock linkage runs down through the valve guides, and several other things have been made a little more prototypical, so that the finished locomotive should be a cut above the average Springbok.
