Here we have a well detailed 5" gauge LNER B1. Unusually this isn't a Martin Evans Springbok. From what we can tell (and guess) we think that she is based upon the Clarkson K1 design, and then tweaked with the bogie and a bit of extra length. Although technically as 'wrong' as a Springbok is in terms of prototypical accuracy, (but in entirely different ways), the net result is a handsome and convincing engine! The level of detail is lovely too, which all adds to this models appeal.
Mechanically we've been through her and she's now fully re-commissioned. She's a slide valve engine which again is arguably another plus over a standard 'Springbok', as the engine has a lovely strong chuff and has bedded in very nicely. As you can see in the video (soon to be uploaded!) we've had her round a few tracks and she's a lovely performer that will happily fly round your track all day pulling passengers. The boiler is of course copper and silver soldered, and comes with a fresh 4 year hydraulic certificate and a fresh annual steam cert (now a couple of months in as we've been playing!)
There is an injector fitted, as well as an axle pump and footplate mounted bypass valve,.... and of course the hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front footplate as normal.
