5" GWR Saint

Here we have a lovely example of an extremely pretty prototype.  A 5" GWR Churchward Saint, number 2921 'Saint Dunstan'.  Built and maintained by a very capable model engineer this is a lovely model with a particularly nice patina giving it a very lovely and authentic feel   The copper silver soldered boiler comes fully professionally certificated so there are no concerns from that point of view.  Mechanically too it's been well maintained and is all still nice and tight, so we expect that she'll run as well as she looks!

Fitted with a pair of injectors as well as a crosshead water pump and footplate mounted bypass valve.  There is also a hand pump in the tender.  The mechanical lubricator is tucked neatly under the boiler and you can get at it fairly easily from the top to refill.  The backhead isn't 'super' detail but it has enough on there to represent a nice compromise between prototypical accuracy and usability.  This is a model that has been built to run, and then has had some nice bits of detail dotted about where they aren't going to get in the way of it's practical use.  It's a nice balance, and certainly a cracking loco that we are very much looking forward to putting a fire in!

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!  We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go.  So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
