Here we have a 5" gauge GWR King, presented as 'King Edward II' in BR Blue livery. This is a brand new, full 4 cylinder model having only been steamed on a couple of test occasions. It's a Kingscale product, so the boiler is a nicely professionally made silver soldered copper one that comes with a fresh hydraulic shell test as well as a fresh steam test so all's well there.
Kingscale hasn't actually started to deliver the production batch run of their GWR King yet, so this is actually one of the two pre-production prototypes made by the factory to refine the design. As such it's less refined than the actual production batch will be and although it clearly runs (see attached video), you can almost certainly expect there to be various issues that will crop up during use that would benefit from tweaking or indeed re-working. Cosmetically too there are clearly one or two areas that Kingscale tweaked and modified before the main batch, but generally as you can see it's an impressively big model and is offered here for a significant saving over the production model.
Fitted with two injectors, a twin ram axle pump with footplate mounted bypass as well as a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication happily is mechanical, with a three ram pump under the front running board. Almost certainly the cheapest King with a new professionally manufactured boiler that you're likely to find.
