Here we have a good example of the ever popular 5" gauge GWR City of Truro. Built by an experienced and capable model engineer and ready to play. Mechanically the bottom end is pretty tight. There is no significant wear and tear in the valve gear so nothing to worry about there. As you'll hear in the video the piston rings were blowing past a little when she arrived here at The Steam Workshop, so we'll put in brand new rings before she leaves us.
Lots of good thought has been put into getting lubrication into the difficult to reach bits between the frames, and as you can see from the photographs and film, the sand boxes are actually oil pots for the internal valve gear. Main cylinder lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front running board. There are two injectors fitted and both pick up beautifully first time. The engine has a hand pump in the tender as well.
The boiler is fully silver soldered copper and comes with plenty of history as well as fresh current tests so that you know you are good to go.
