Here we have a 5" gauge GWR 61xx Large Prairie from Kingscale. Only steamed on a couple of occasions, essentially it's a brand new model. The level of detail on this latest offering from Kingscale is just superb. The sanding gear, the folding driver seats and opening footplate doors,..... it's a really beautiful looking model, and if it were a model engineer built large Prarie to the Trevor Shortland design with this level of detail it could easily be over twice this price. We think this one is actually Kingscale's Pilot model, because delivery of the production run from the manufacturer has only just started, and as such It's still got the usual manufacturing tolerance issues on the valve gear and bottom end generally, and so everything is a bit loose and sloppy down there. That said. it looks like it runs freely enough, and everything will essentially work. We're confident that if you want to pull yourself round the club track a few sunny Sundays in the year it'll do the job beautifully, but ultimately it's not robust enough to be put into intensive passenger hauling service without a good bit of attention to tighten up some of the slop in the rods and boxes.
Apologies for the limited description here at the moment, we have a huge backlog of models to list, so we will try to get through these next week to add detail to the descriptions, but for now hopefully the photos are at least live for you to see and should hopefully give you the general idea.
All our working models will come fully hydraulically tested, with fresh steam tests and having been through our works to make sure all is well and everything is working as it should.
