5" GWR 15xx 'Speedy'

Here we have a 5" gauge GWR 15xx to the well respected and powerful Martin Evans 'Speedy' design.  This is a slightly scruffy looking loco, but once you look past the tatty paint and slightly plain platework you notice that it's actually a very well detailed and nicely engineered model, particularly on the bottom end.  Things like the crosshead are particularly well detailed, an area that most Speedies fall short on.  The valve gear is well machined and doesn't show significant signs of excessive wear,..... she runs nicely on air as well.

There is a pair of injectors fitted as well as an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve.  There is a hand pump as well at the rear of the footplate as well.  Lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front footplate as usual.

The backhead and bodywork is also well finished and detailed, but the general bodywork is let down a bit by the square edged and basic rear bunker, which is not unusual to find on a Speedy, but not up to the generally higher standard of the rest of the model.  There are no tank filler caps either which is a nice detail that could be added to lift the overall appearance if you should wish to do so.

Fitted with a Silver soldered copper boiler which as always will come fully hydraulically tested to twice working pressure, we also test all the fittings to twice working pressure as well to make doubly sure that all is well.  She also comes fully ready to play with fresh steam tests so you should just be good to hit the track and enjoy.
