Here we have a nicely made and ready to play GNR/LNER Gresley O1 2-8-0. Built to the well proven Martin Evans 'Nigel Gresley' design, this loco comes to us from an experienced model engineer and is fully sorted and ready to play.
The machining work is to a pretty good standard, and although she has clearly been 'run', showing the usual battle scars of usage, the bits that count are still in good mechanical condition. There isn't a great deal of slop in the motion, and the boiler is nicely made and as with most locos on here has a full boiler cert both hydraulic and steam so ready to hit the track.
Lubrication is from the nice and big mechanical lubricator on the running board, and there is also a second large tank on the other running board to take the oil for the axle boxes. Well thought out for a running model. There is an injector, a hand pump in the tender, and an axle pump fitted, in this case to the tender, with the bypass valve on the tender footplate. Generally actually the paintwork on the loco and the tender body is in pretty good nick, it's just the inside of the tender where the coal and shovels have been clattered about, and the footplate where cosmetically it could do with a bit of a freshen up. That said, it's small fry on what is a lovely, powerful loco, ripe for getting back onto the track and doing some serious train hauling!
