Here we have a 5" gauge BR standard '80000' class 4 tank. Cosmetically more or less in as new condition. It has been fired and run on a number of occasions but has clearly been well looked after.
These locos sold out pretty quickly from the manufacturer as it's an extremely handsome prototype. The model has a professionally made silver soldered copper boiler, CE marked and hydraulically tested to twice working pressure. All the original manufacturer's certificates and paperwork,.... even an EU Declaration of Conformity are included as well as fresh hydraulic and steam tests from ourselves.
There's an injector fitted as well as an axle pimp with footplate mounted bypass valve, and of course a hand pump tucked away within the tank. Lubrication is simple displacement also in the tank.
From our experience with the Kingscale Class 4's it should steam perfectly well, and indeed it will be tested to make sure before leaving our workshop. Mechanically everything will work and it will pull you around, however, the general fit and tightness of the bottom end is functional but not tight enough to really be put under any significant long term passenger hauling loadings. You still get a lot of engine for the money, and it looks superb, but we would recommend that you plan to do a few model engineering tweaks here and there if you want to turn it into a more reliable, and a more sturdy 'regular runner'. As long as you buy this with your eyes open, then you will be getting an extremely handsome loco for a very reasonable price.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
