Here we have another example of the ever popular BR Britannia in 5" gauge. Built as so many 5" Britts are from the Modelworks/Winson kit foundations, but with competent model engineering input where necessary to produce a reliable running model. This one appears to have been nicely treated particularly where it counts. The valve gear in numerous areas looks to us to be model engineer made rather than from the kit. There's a lot more finesse in the finishing and the general shape of the coupling rods for example than would have been possible to achieve using the Modelworks rods as the starting point.
The mechanical lubricators, the draincocks, the steam fittings, the clack valves are all also not the standard Modelworks ones, again indicating that the builder has corrected all the known weaknesses of the kit. The loco has been a regular performer for it's previous owner, and as such, cosmetically she's showing the odd scratch and scrape consistent with a running model. But the valve gear still seems comfortably tight with no excessive wear and tear, so she's definitely still good to play!
Fitted with an injector, as well as an axle pump and footplate mounted bypass valve, and of course the hand pump in the tender. The boiler is the usual professionally made silver soldered copper one, and can come with a full fresh 4 year hydraulic test as well as a fresh steam test so she's ready to hit the rails.
