Here we have a pretty much complete kit for a Winson/Modelworks 5″ Gauge BR standard 9F. It was purchased brand new by it’s previous owner directly from Winson.
The bulk of the model has been assembled, and some time ago by the looks of things. Although doused in WD40 to protect the surfaces they show a very light amount of surface rust. It is superficial and will rub off with a decent bit of wire wool. The remaining couple of boxes appear to contain pretty much everything that's missing from the assembly. Whilst we can’t really spend the time checking that every last component is there, the previous owner has kindly done so, and missing at the moment is simply a few basic gaskets and bits and bobs that you would almost certainly be wishing to replace with more substantial items anyway. Certainly the vast majority and all the significant components are all present and correct!
We've seen a few MW 9Fs finished off into lovely models, and there is a huge wealth of information and support out there for people attempting this build, where you can find out exactly how and where to make modifications and alter things to make it work well.
On top of that, if you really want to make a lovely job of it, we also have the D.Hewson range of fittings and BR standard parts here at The Steam Workshop. So we can supply all the jewellery to make the model look just like the real thing, as well as full cab kits, tender body laser cut kits, smoke box kits, new CNC chimney machinings. Pretty much everything that you could possibly want to finish the basic Modelworks 9F off to look like an accurate scale model of the real thing.
