Here we have a pretty unusual find. A 4" scale Suffolk Dredging tractor made to a doubled up version of the 2" John Haining design. Inspiration for the model comes from a Sentinel lightweight dredging 'tractor' one off that they made back in the latter part of the 19th century.
The model we have here is of course steel boilered, and has been hydraulically tested to twice it's 120psi working pressure. Powered by a well made vertical twin cylinder engine, the gearing is reasonably high, so although this tops out at around 5mph, it is quite a powerful thing, able to pull a car, or a load of people with ease. There is an injector fitted, as well as a substantial water pump with graduatable bypass valve mounted on the footplate, and also a steam water pump fitted on the running board which can be set to tick away satisfyingly popping water regularly into the boiler.
There is a fully operational winch drum fitted to the rear, and with neutral selected, the drum ban be both engaged and braked to enable you to winch anything your hearts desire. Quite a nice party trick at the very least. The articulated trailer is well made, and attaches onto a standard towing bar, so you can easily drop on your trailer and drag everybody down to the pub should the summer evening demand it! We've had some fun with this one, as the video clips will testify. It's a lot of fun, but it's now time to find a new owner.
