Here we have a nicely presented 4" Garrett Traction Engine. Garrett's to the well respected design by B. Newcombe are actually not nearly as common as the Burrells or Fosters in 4", and they make for a good sized chunky engine, similar in size and weight to a Foster. Built brand new in 2014 with a professional made steel boiler by Bell. The boiler comes with 9 years left on it's professional Hydraulic certificate and can come with a fresh steam test so all's well and ready to play.
Mechanically she's in excellent condition, with good compression and no knocks. Lubrication is the usual Foster mechanical on the back of the cylinder block. The injector and the crank pump both work well as does the water lifter. You might notice the rear clack has been swapped out for a more generic simplified clack. The original shut off clack box is with the model and we can of course re-fit that for you if you'd prefer the two clacks to match.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
