Here we have a rather special 4" Foster 7nhp Double Crank Compound three speed Road locomotive. A very rare beast this and an exceptionally well engineered one too! Beautifully machined, and dripping with finesse, the finish and tolerances are superb, with no perceptible wear and a satisfying smoothness to every slide and movement. She's a full Compound with double high 'simpling' capacity and the cylinders are 2 1/8¨ & 3 1/2¨ bore respectively with a stroke of 4 1/8¨ working at 175psi, so this is a powerful engine in any scale.
The design, developed by Roy Moseley is based on the full size Foster No14502 “VICTORY” of 1920 and the castings are supplied by HPM Steam Engineering. We only know of two more that have been built to date.
The engine was completed in 2016 and has a professionally made steel boiler with expended in steel tubes. Fitted with a pair of injectors as well as the crank pump and footplate mounted bypass valve.

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
