Here we have another ready to play example of the venerable 'Simplex' design. Completed back in 1990 but then kept in a display cabinet for near 23 years before being finally 'commissioned' last November.
The loco has been 'run in' this season, and had all the usual new model teething issues sorted out. It's fitted with a pair of 25oz injectors along with new steam valves and water trimming valves, and is also fitted with a hand pump in the tank. The tanks themselves are plumbed through to a third tank in the bunker. The Superheaters are stainless, and lubrication is from a mechanical pump. The boiler is silver soldered copper, and is fitted with a brick arch made from fire clay, which has made a significant difference to economy and performance.
As with most Simplex Locos she is a very free steamer and great passenger hauling loco, and there are currently three years still to run on the Hydraulic certificate.
