Here we have the finest 3" Clayton Undertype that you're ever likely to see. Certainly a gold medal, exhibition quality model built by the late George Bradbury. George was a prolific model engineer, whom I knew personally as he was a good friend of my Grandad's. George built a 3" Atkinson, as well as this Clayton, a really lovely Hunslet that we sold a couple of years ago and he also built a couple of smaller 3 1/2" gauge locos, but his main passion was aero and stationary engines, of which he built many. I first saw this lorry when George finished it around about 1990, and I've included a couple of photos that the 11 year old 'me' took outside his workshop as a little nostalgia.
Currently unsteamed and immaculate, and really it probably ought to stay that way, although we don't doubt for a second that everything will work perfectly.
More details to follow shortly, but for now have a look at the photos to get the idea!
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
For any more information please don't hesitate to give us a bell on 07816 963463
