Here we have a particularly well made 3" Scale Atkinson steam lorry. Built clearly by a skilled and careful model engineer, the attention to detail, finish and model engineering finesse is all lovely and although it's been steamed and run the whole lorry feels very crisp and new. The boiler is silver soldered copper and comes with a complete history as well as fresh 4 year hydraulic test and a fresh annual steam test so it's ready to play.
Water is fed by an injector tucked away under the cab floor, as well as a crank pump and cab mounted bypass valve. The pump it's self passes through an anti-surge plenum chamber and then through a pre-heater in the cab to raise the temperature before it enters the boiler. There is a neat little locking pin located behind the rear axle that enables the model to be clicked out of gear so that the engine (and water pump) can be run whilst stationary. Lubrication is mechanical and tucked neatly under the deck, and she's also fitted with a water lifter which, like the rest of the model works beautifully.
