Here we have a 3 1/2" gauge Stanier Class 4 tank to the popular 'Jubilee' design by Martin Evans, but with a nice twist. This one has been modelled with Baker valve gear and subtly tweaked here n there visually to satisfy the builder's eye. A well made model by a competent model engineer and runs pretty well on air. The boiler is silver soldered copper , but frustratingly showed a number of weeps around the stays in the fire box under hydraulic testing. Normally we would set to in the workshop, strip the boiler off and re-solder to fix all the weeps, but we have such a lot of work on in the works at the moment that with the relatively low value of the model we've decided just to drop the price and list the model as a project for someone else to have a crack at.
Fitted with an injector as well as a twin ram axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course a hand pump in the tank. Lubrication is mechanical and tucked in the usual spot under the front running board. Something a little different with the Baker gear and a loco that should work very well back on track.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
