Here we have a 3 1/2" gauge Stanier class 4 tank, to the well proven and ever popular Martin Evans 'Jubilee' design. Not an uncommon design, due to their manageable size and useful performance, and this one comes to us essentially complete, but in need of a little TLC and the odd bit of finishing here n there!
It appears to be a new build and mechanically it's well machined and constructed, and the overall synopsis is that it's a good, solid and usable loco. The bodywork is on the simplistic side, and certainly the cab roof and top portion of the rear coal bunker (the removable part) is simply cardboard! Either done as a cosmetic finish, or as templates before metal was cut. Either way, this would want finishing before you've got a completely finished model. There's an injector, also an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass, and the ubiquitous emergency hand pump in the tank. Draincocks are operated from the footplate. Lubrication is the usual mechanical job under the front footplate.
This is essentially a competently made loco, and represents a relatively inexpensive route to owning a well proven and handsome prototypical 3 1/2" gauge Stanier class 4 tank.
