Here we have a nice example of an 3 1/2" LBSC H1 'Brighton Atlantic. This model is to the well proven 'Maisie' design, but detailed up as the Brighton H1 rather than the more usually seen GNR Ivatt Atlantic. A well sorted model now this, having come to us from a skilled model engineer who has tweaked and modified both cosmetic and mechanical detail during his ownership.
The loco has an injector, a mechanical axle pump and footplate mounted bypass valve, as well as the usual emergency hand pump in the tender. Fairly unusually the model is fitted with the working vacuum brakes that we have occasionally seen fitted to Maisies. They were on the LBSC drawings, but many model engineers omit them as certainly in our experience they are not massively practically useful in the real world. Undoubtedly an interesting extra technically satisfying feature though.
