Here we have a particularly nicely made 3 1/2" gauge Stanier class 4 tank, to the well established Martin Evans 'Jubilee' design. This is another virtually as new model which we first commissioned and sold around 8 years ago now. It's still only been steamed on a handful of occasions, in our workshop so that we could commission it to make sure that all was well, and once with it's previous owner. It comes with it's original professional boiler build cert and shell test certificate from Western Steam to twice working pressure as well as a full 4 year hydraulic certificate and annual steam test.
It runs as well as you'd expect it to, with a lovely and crisp exhaust. Water is fed by both a twin axle pumps and a hand pump in the tank. There is a mechanical lubricator under the front footplate. The top of the bunker is removable to enable easy driving, although there is a really neat little folding section to the back of the cab so you could drive it with everything in place if you wanted to keep it looking right.
All in all, one of the nicest Martin Evans Jubilees we've seen, and certainly one that promises to be a great performer.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
