Here we have a very well engineered 3 1/2" gauge LMS 2P. Clearly built by a model engineer who was both very capable and experienced with running miniature steam locos. The machining is lovely, everything is still nice and tight even though the loco has clearly been a well used model. There's lead tucked away all over the place, so it's a very heavy little thing, again, a clear sign that this is an engine built to run.
The silver soldered copper boiler comes fully hydraulically tested to twice working pressure and of course the loco comes with a fresh steam test so we know that everything is working as it should be. Fitted with a Chiverton injector as well as an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve, and of course the obligatory hand pump fitted within the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted under the front running boards. Cosmetically the loco is heavily 'patinad', and clearly shows the signs of a locomotive that has worked very well for a long time. That said, everything is still lovely and crisp feeling, and we reckon this one feels like it's going to be a cracker.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
