Here we have an early stage 3 1/2" gauge quarry Hunslet to the freelance, but well proven 'Conway' design by Martin Evans. The machining work completed to date here is first rate. The fit of the axle boxes in the horn guides tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the job as they gently slide downward to the keeps under gravity with a satisfyingly smooth motion. The cylinders are bored, and it looks as though all the castings are there to complete the job. The pressed tank ends are nicely formed and the smoke box too is well done.
The real value here though is of course the particularly nicely made, brand new professional boiler by Alec Farmer complete with original initial shell test hydraulic certificate. Silver soldered copper as you'd expect, and an excellent build by a well respected professional without the wait or cost of making one today.
