Here we have a particularly pretty and and well conceived Polly 3 locomotive. Cosmetically modified as you can see to evoke perhaps an Irish 3' narrow gauge feel, or perhaps even a little of the Southwold feel. Certainly a cut above a standard Polly 3, and we think a very successful one too. Originally made in 1991 with a nice little works plate to attest to the builder.
Lubrication is mechanical and it's fitted with the usual three forms of water supply. Hand pump in the tank, axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course the injector. There are also nice touches with the oil boxes on the side tanks to feed the axle boxes and valve gear and of course the neatly made wooden floor.
The boiler is the usual professional job from Polly, and is as tidy and well made as you'd expect it to be. Comes with full and fresh boiler certs so it's fully tested and ready to play.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
