Here we have a rare beast, a 3 1/2" gauge LMS Stanier 8F. A little bit of a project for someone for this winter. We had a customer on this loco as a fully commissioned model ready to play, but when we brought it into the workshop to more thoroughly investigate and work on it, we found that several aspects were missing or not as finished as the overall impression of the loco gave. The safety valves for example have no holes in them and no internals, there's no plumbing at all done yet for the lubricator or any of the water systems. It looks like what's been done is tidy and certainly the paint finish is also neat, implying a bit of care has been taken, but there was a bit too much work left to do in order to get this one over the finish line than we ultimately have time for in our workshops. As a result, the decision was taken to apologise to the customer, and list the model as a project for a much reduced price instead.
A virtually finished 8F for basically the price of the boiler will hopefully be just the thing that someone has been waiting for!
