Here we have a more or less as new LNER Gresley A3, 4472 Flying Scotsman. We've known this loco since new, having lit the first fire ourselves, so we know it's full history. It initially spent about 5 years on display in a private collection before coming back to us and being sold to a new owner who enjoys running. Having enjoyed running the loco on several occasions he's decided ultimately to move toward his ever growing collection of 7 1/4" locos so the Scotsman is back available for sale again! She's still a more or less new loco with relatively few steamings under her belt, so everything is still nice and tight as it should be. A neatly made model, the boiler is a professionally made silver soldered copper one that of course comes with fresh hydraulic and steam tests so all's well and ready to run.
This is a full 3 cylinder loco of course, and she runs very smoothly and will crawl along at a very lovely slow pace. There are two injectors and a hand pump fitted in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and under the front as usual. The steam brakes are fitted and working as well. All in all a very tidy model of the ever popular Flying Scotsman.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
