Here we have a lovely 3" scale Marshall 7Nhp TE to the 'Pride of the Road' design. This is a well engineered and highly authentically detailed model and the general quality of engineering and machining skill is lovely. Compression on the cylinder is really good, and it has the feel of an engine that hasn't really been used in anger. The boiler is steel, and in excellent condition with full certificates from new. There is an injector and a crank shaft water pump with bypass valve, and lubrication as mechanical.
It is a Four Shaft Tractor with the usual agricultural two speeds and stephenson's link motion. She is fitted with a working water lifter, eccentric water pump, injector and the cylinders are oiled from the usual cylinder top mounted mechanical lubricator. The governor isn’t plumbed in at the moment, the port for the valve is there, and the governor it’s self is made to work, so it wouldn’t take much of a fiddle to extend the drive to actually work as it should.
This is a chunky and heavy 3″ traction engine at 51″ long x 21″ wide and 31″ high.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
