Here we have a beautifully detailed 5" gauge LSWR O2 0-4-4 tank. Frustratingly upon testing here in the workshops we've found a few pin weaps on the firebox crown boiler stays at twice working pressure.
At 180psi there were beads forming and dripping at the rate of one drip every 2 or 3 seconds. At working pressure the beads didn't drip but were present and forming slowly. It's possible that they will take up in steam, particularly if some sort of caulking agent is used, and no structural deforming or structural weakness was observed under twice working pressure loadings.
It's potentially caulkable, and certainly repairable, but we are super busy here in the workshop at the moment, so rather than tackling this one's repair here in the workshops, we've decided to offer it cheaper to any model engineers out there who'd like to tackle the repair, and hopefully end up with a particularly lovely model for half it's potential value!
