Here we have a 3" Scale Burrell single crank traction engine. Built by a capable model engineer to the ever popular 3" design by Plastow, this is a tidy example with what appears to have seen minimal use. Paintwork is utilitarian and plain, but tidy, and mechanically everything is still acceptably tight.
The Steel boiler appears generally to be in good condition with healthy ultrasonic plate thickness readings and good tubes, but there are a few small weaps that appear to be coming from the firebox stays. We are super busy in the workshop here at the moment, so we've decided that it will be a while before we get time in the workshop to investigate and fix, so the engine is being offered as is for someone to have a crack at as a project.
Fitted with the usual mechanical lubricator on top of the cylinder block, and fitted with an injector, a crank pump with footplate mounted bypass valve.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
