Here we have a nice little 2 1/2" gauge WD Austerity to the 'Austere Ada' design by the venerable LBSC. A basic model with a bit of a utilitarian paint job,.... the builder was obviously channeling the spirit of the prototype! Everything looks like it's going to work once we've had it through the workshop though, including the boiler which is silver soldered copper and can of course come with a fresh hydraulic shell test as well as a fresh steam test on the complete loco.
There is an axle pump with a footplate mounted bypass valve fitted, as well as a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted under the front running board as shown in the photos. All in all a basic model, but one that you should be able to enjoy without worrying about scratching the paint!
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
