Here we have a well presented example of a 7 1/4" LMS Stanier Black 5, mostly to the 'Highlander' design by Martin Evans, with the important exception that the firebox shape has been tapered downwards and inwards toward the cab, much improving the prototypical accuracy of the locos appearance.
The boiler is a professionally made silver soldered copper one from Swindon boilers which comes of course fully tested and ready to run. There are a pair of injectors for the water feeds. Lubrication is mechanical and easy to get at in a nicely prototypically proportioned lubricator body on the running board. The axleboxes also have wick feed oil boxes on the running boards to help you get lubrication into the difficult to reach parts on the inside. Similar attention to detail has been given on the footplate with the tender toolboxes being nicely reproduced, as well as the backhead having everything pretty much where it should be. All in all this is a well detailed and well thought through model made to a well respected design, representing a desirable prototype and all presented in great condition.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
