Here we have a 7 1/4" gauge Maxitrak Opal. A great size loco this for getting into 7 1/4" gauge. It's large enough to not be at all fiddly to drive, superb for kids to get used to, but a lot of the 'bulk' is the tanks and cab rather than the mechanicals so it isn't a hugely heavy engine to move about. The boiler is professionally made silver soldered copper by Maxitrak, and of course comes with fresh hydraulic and steam tests. Cosmetically she's been used with the off scuff and paint chip here and there, but there's no significant mechanical wear to worry about.
Fitted with an injector as well as a crosshead water pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course a large hand pump on the footplate. Lubrication is mechanical with the pot visible on the front of the right hand side tank.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
