Here we have a 5" gauge GWR 15xx to the powerful 'speedy' design. This is a mechanically sound loco with a decent boiler, coming as usual with a fresh 4 year hydraulic test and a fresh annual steam test with everything fully checked and working. Cosmetically it's a little basic here and there on the bodywork with a simple paint job, and although that detracts a little from it's visual appeal it does nothing to impair it's performance. Mechanically it's actually a nicely machined and well detailed model, and has the distinctive crosshead detailing of the prototype often omitted on 15xx models.
There are two injectors fitted, one being a Chiverton vertical the other a horizontal. There is an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass and over flow visible in the filler on the pannier tank, and there is also a hand pump on the footplate. Lubrication is mechanical and tucked under the front running board. There's even a steam brake fitted, although the chances of that working in any meaningful way are limited! All in all a decent and powerful model that you can enjoy without worrying about chipping the paint with your shovel!

We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
