Here we have a rather fantastic and extremely rare model, a 5" gauge GWR Hawksworth County! Number 1026 'County of Salop'. This is a brand new model only having been steamed on a few occasions to commission and test, making sure all is working as it should, and it comes to us from the same builder as the lovely 5" GWR King that we sold last year. Lovely attention to detail and extremely crisply finished, the builder has taken great care using the works drawings to get the model correct. All the sanding gear is fully modeled as is the speedo bracket, in fact the more you look the more you see, and it all comes together to produce a particularly lovely model. The tender has also been given good attention, and again a proper Hawksworth tender in 5" is also not something that we've come across before.
The boiler is a neatly made silver soldered copper one finished in 2019, and of course comes fully tested and certificated ready to play. There's a hand pump fitted in the tender, and a crosshead pump on the right hand side as per the prototype. There is also an injector under the left hand cab side. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted under the front running boards. Of course as with all our finished models, she comes fully sorted and ready to hit your track. A unique opportunity to own the nicest of only 3 (we believe) 5" gauge Counties ever made, and certainly the only one to become available for sale recently.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
