Here we have another fine example of the well proven 5" gauge LNER B1, to Martin Evans 'Springbok' design. This time in LNER black as number 1040 'Roedeer'. A very well presented loco, and a well sorted runner too. The machining work is tight and crisp, with very little slop and play, and the boiler is a neatly done copper silver solder one that is fully ticketed and ready to play.
There is an injector, a mechanical axle pump (with footplate mounted bypass valve) and a hand pump in the tender, and lubrication is again mechanical, and in the correct prototypical location on the running boards. There's a lot of nice detail on her as well, the sand box lids and dummy oil boxes on the running boards really set her off very nicely. The cylinders even have nicely made machined ally covers for them!
All in all a cracking example, and one that should see you flying around your club track pulling passengers all day until your heart is content.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
