Here we have a pretty much brand new LNER Gresley A3, 4472 Flying Scotsman. Only test steamed on a couple of occasions to make sure everything is working as it should! Technically the model is slightly a halfway house between the original Gresley A1 and the later A3, the cab being the earlier one, the dome not being the banjo and various other detailing differences, but the model is neatly made and sports essentially a brand new professionally made silver soldered copper boiler. We lit the first fire in the model and did the initial tweaks and commissioning, and were pleasantly surprised that there's not too much needing to be done here in the works before she was ready to go.
A full 3 cylinder loco of course, and she runs very smoothly and will crawl along at a very lovely slow pace. There are two injectors and a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and under the front as usual. The steam brakes are fitted and working as well. All in all a very tidy, and brand new model of the ever popular Scotsman.

So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
