Here we have another nicely engineered 3 1/2" gauge BR Britannia, this time unusually it's presented in BR Black livery as 'Morning Star'. Although at least 'Britannia' it's self did run in plain Black livery for a short period, the lined black isn't prototypically accurate, although it certainly looks well on the model and makes for a nice change!
The boiler is silver soldered copper and neatly done. It comes with both it's previous historic certificates as well as a fresh 4 year hydraulic and annual steam test so it's all sorted and ready to play. Mechanically the bottom end is still pretty nice and tight, and although it's clearly cosmetically a 'used' model, it's also obviously been well cared for and looked after as it should have been. Lubrication is mechanical and under the front running boards. There is an injector fitted as well as an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and also of course the hand pump in the tender.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
