Here we have a nicely done 4 1/2" Burrell Agricultural Traction Engine. Made to the Plastow design, she is fully tested, sorted, certificated and ready to rally. The boiler is both interesting and rare in this scale being a professionally made silver soldered copper one! Originally manufactured in Germany the boiler comes with it's original plate stamps and paperwork and is still as you would expect in great condition.
The engine has been regularly rallied but she's also been well looked after so the bushes are all still comfortably tight and slop is minimal. The safety valves are pop type with the top lever and spring being all dummies so that they work properly and shut when they should. (A set to the original design is available if you'd prefer those to be to the standard design instead.)
The tires are bolted on, but no less secure for it, and although cosmetically she's a little chipped here and there, it's nothing too untoward and she still looks great. Hopefully the photos will give you the full picture. There's obviously an injector fitted as well as the usual crank driven water pump and bypass valve and lubrication is the usual foster mechanical up on top of the cylinder block. All in all a nice traction engine all ready to play.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
