Here we have another solid example of the ever popular Simplex design 0-6-0. A good solid performer as they all tend to be, with a free steaming boiler, it's a really easy engine to handle and get you into the hobby.
This loco has just benefited from an overhaul by her previous owner. The bottom end doesn't have any significant slop present and we've given the copper, silver soldered boiler a twice working pressure hydraulic test to make sure all is well there too. There's an injector, plus an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass and of course the hand pump hidden in the tank. There's also a nice little cork float gauge in the left hand tank that pops up to show you the water level. Lubrication is mechanical and in the usual place on the running board.
The paintwork is all hand painted, so it does show the brush marks and isn't as smooth as you'd expect from a sprayed finish, and the lining is tape, but it doesn't detract much at all from the overall effect, and certainly the choice of black edged brown livery suits the model very well. The name and maker's plates are formed from what feels like plastic, possibly 3D printed, so could easily be swapped out for something that you fancy. As with all our running models she can come fully tested and ready to play.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
