Here we have a rare 3 1/2" gauge Highland Railway Jones 'Big Goods' 4-6-0. An extremely pretty Victorian locomotive, indeed the very first 4-6-0 to run in the UK. Currently painted, as you can see in a bright version of the historically inaccurate livery that the loco has worn since entering preservation in the 60's. In service the locos wore Jones 1 & 2 liveries (lovely light green with sage green edging and ornate lining) , LMS maroon and of course BR black. We'd be happy to talk to you about re-painting the model if you aren't a fan of the yellow.
Mechanically though she's all up and working well and there's some nice detailing too including the Jones louvered chimney to keep the smoke drift at bay. The silver soldered copper boiler comes with full hydraulic certs and steam tests. The valve gear is reasonably tight and certainly not showing any excessive wear and tear that you'd need to worry about any time soon. There is an injector fitted as well as a footplate fitted bypass for the axle pump and of course a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and fitted under the front running boards.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
